Thursday Night at Counter Interiors: What Happened When We Opened the Showroom for Networking?
“Thursday 16th April worked better than we expected.“
We partnered with Firefly Hub to host a B2B networking evening at our York showroom – professionals from across Yorkshire, craft spirits from Hooting Owl Distillery, canapés from a trained chef, and no forced networking nonsense.
What we got was a showroom packed with financial professionals, property developers, business consultants, real estate investors, architects, marketing specialists, and construction professionals. Different industries, but everyone got it. You know what it’s like to run a business properly.

The Format: Simple Works
We’ve done networking events before. What works is keeping it straightforward – good people, good setting, no pressure.
Here’s what we did:
Luke’s Presentation
Walked everyone through Counter Interiors – what we actually do, how we work with premium manufacturers like NEFF, Siemens, Quooker, Sub-Zero & Wolf, the kind of projects we handle. Twenty years in kitchens, and we’ve learned what works. Showed the showroom properly – all 3,200 square feet of it.

Ann Reynolds Cooking Live
Professionally trained chef working throughout the evening. She prepared a wide variety of different canapé recipes – the smoked salmon blinis disappeared first (we’re ordering more next time), then the chocolate fudge bites. Several people asked for recipes. She’s not sharing.

Hooting Owl Distillery
Award-winning craft spirits made right here in York – 10+ Great Taste Awards between them. Their head distiller talked through the process whilst everyone sampled. The Raspberry & Hibiscus Gin was popular. The spiced rum was the star. Some people went back three times. We noticed.

Networking Throughout
No ice-breakers. No forced mingling exercises. Just professionals from different sectors finding common ground. Financial people chatting with property developers. Business consultants swapping insights with architects. Real connections, not performative networking.
What People Said?

Why We Do These Events?
The showroom tells our story better than we ever could.
You can explain premium quality all day, but until someone sees a NEFF MasterPartner Excellence Award display in person, feels the weight of a Quooker tap, or stands in front of a Sub-Zero & Wolf installation, it’s just words.
These events let us show what Counter Interiors is actually about – design-focused kitchens and bedrooms, partnerships with the best manufacturers in the business, project management from concept to installation. Family business with proper backing.
And they work because the right people show up. Thursday had financial sector professionals, property developers, architects, business consultants – the kind of connections that lead somewhere.
The Partnership: Firefly Hub
This event happened because of Firefly Hub.
Their network is why we had such a good mix in the room – financial professionals, property specialists, business owners, consultants. Quality people who understand what it takes to run a business properly.
We’re already talking about the next one.

What Happens Next?
Business cards are still on our desk from people asking us to connect them. New collaborations have started. Old friendships rekindled.
That’s what these events are for – genuine connections, not forced networking. And if you’re interested in attending the next one, we’re planning more B2B networking evenings with the same format.
For Trade Professionals
We work with architects, property developers, interior designers, and trade professionals across Yorkshire. If you’re interested in exploring B2B partnerships or collaborations – ongoing projects, referral relationships, whatever makes sense – get in touch.

For Homeowners
If you’re thinking about a premium kitchen or bedroom project, book a consultation. No charge, no obligation. Just an honest conversation about what you’re after and whether Counter Interiors is right for it.
Our average kitchen project sits between £25,000-£50,000. We handle luxury projects well beyond that. Everything’s designed by Luke or Clare, and we project-manage the entire installation from start to finish.
